Biography

Anthony hails from Kingsport, TN, where he was awarded the TSSAA scholar-athlete of the year, and toured with the North American Elite Youth Orchestra. He was the Harold Stirling Vanderbilt Scholar at Vanderbilt University, and a United States Presidential Scholar. He then attended the Duke University School of Medicine, and completed an Albert Schweitzer Foundation service fellowship as well as an NIH-funded basic science research fellowship. He completed his residency in neurosurgery at the University of Michigan, where he was awarded an NRSA F-32 research fellowship, an AANS Neurosurgical Top Gun award, and the AANS Public Service citation. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed research articles and textbook chapters. 

Anthony enjoys teaching students and residents, for which he received the Golden Beeper Award from the University of Michigan Medical School students, and a nomination for the Resident Award for Exemplary Teaching from the American College of Surgeons. 

Research Interests

Molecular and genetic mechanisms of resistance and recurrence of adult and pediatric brain tumors and simulation in surgical education.

Clinical Interests

Pediatric neurosurgery and skull base oncology.
