Dr. Joyce Lee to receive award from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute

A $250,000 Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) was given to support the creation of a research collaborative innovation network in Type 1 Diabetes.

Joyce Lee, M.D. M.P.H., associate professor at the University of Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, will lead an engagement project with patient partners from the Nightscout Foundation and the CGM in the Cloud Community, the largest type 1 diabetes online community on Facebook that has been using collaborative tools and social media to develop tools, technologies, and support for patients with diabetes and their caregivers.

The project will focus on the use of participatory design with the community to develop a collaborative innovation research network focused on diabetes.
