The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) is committed to caring for critically ill patients and patients with lung disease. This requires not only that we provide the best possible care, but that we convey these skills to trainees and that we develop novel approaches to understanding and managing these diseases through basic science and clinical and outcomes research.Our mission is to deliver excellent patient care, to develop new knowledge about the lung in health and disease, and to train individuals to be outstanding clinicians and researchers.

What We Focus On

  • Patient Care Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine serves as a regional referral center for both the inpatient and outpatient evaluation of a broad range of pulmonary disorders. Learn more »
  • Education PCCM assumes a prominent role in the overall educational mission of the Department of Internal Medicine and Medical School at Michigan. We Honor Dr. Weg's Work and Life Well Lived at His Passing

It is with great sadness that we inform you of John (Jack) G. Weg’s passing May 3, 2015 at the age of 81.  As many of you know, Dr. Weg has been a long-standing member of the Michigan family and a major driver of our Division’s success at both a regional and national level.

23rd Annual Internal Medicine Research Symposium Keynote Speaker, Jahar Bhattacharya, M.D., D.Phil., will give our next Medicine Grand Rounds at noon on Friday, May 29, 2015, in the Ford Amphitheater.  Dr. Bhattacharya is a Professor of Medicine and a Professor of Physiology & Cellular Biophysics in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at Columbia University.
