Mary O'Riordan, Associate Dean for Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies and Associate Professor of Microbiology & Immunology
Mary provides strategic and operational leadership for the GAP which includes departmentally based graduate and postdoctoral programs, oversight of interdepartmental programs, acts as the liaison between the Dean's Office and basic science chairs on issues related to research, education and training. Scott Barolo, Director of Program in Biomedical Sciences, Associate Professor of Cell & Developmental Biology
Scott became the new PIBS Director in 2015. He oversees PIBS recruitment and admissions, as well as first-year graduate training, coursework, research rotations, and career development. In another building, Scott is known as an Associate Professor of Cell & Developmental Biology, but mostly as the guy who runs BSRB Movie Night.
Matt provides strategic leadership and oversees all administrative aspects of the Postbac MEDPREP Program, including student recruitment, admissions and enrollment, curriculum design, academic and premedical advising, comprehensive medical school application support, experiential learning opportunities and teaching the year-round sequence of Foundations for Aspiring Physicians courses.
Lisa provides administrative leadership in GAP. She assists faculty leads and participates in the formulation and implementation of strategic plans for the department including staffing requirements, faculty administration hires, budget administration, facilities management, and graduate and postdoctoral trainees.
Yvonne is face behind student services for PIBS, PREP and MEDPREP. She acts and the advisor to all student organizations and initiatives, arranges tutors for PIBS and PREP students, is the course administrator for PIBS 800 and handles programming for PIBS and PREP.
Michelle is the backbone of student affairs and handles funding for students, Maas requests, manages rotation forms for PIBS students, updates our online database with current info and sends out our weekly E-blast newsletter.
Jim Musgrave, Director of Graduate Admissions & Recruitment
Jim oversees the strategic trainee recruitment, admissions, on-boarding, and orientation processes for PIBS, PREP, MEDPREP, and CaRSIP. He leads our recruitment team composed for faculty, staff, and students. Coordinates outreach and travel to career fairs, info sessions, advisor schools and other universities.
Claire Ofiara, Enrollment & Diversity Coordinator
Claire helps Jim out with Admissions and Recruitment and is our in office web and application guru for all of GAP. Additionally, she is the diversity and inclusion liaison between our office and the rest of campus.
Kierstin Fiscus, Postdoc Program Coordinator
Kierstin is our mulitasker whose primary role is the coordinator for the office of postdoctoral studies. In addition to this she is also the facilities contact, handles financial reconciliation and manages Mary O'Riordan's calendar. In regards to the the postdoc program she oversees postdoc orientation, compiles the monthly postdoc newsletter, and creates and manages the postdoc career development curriculum.
Brooke Horton, Marketing & Office Coordinator
Brooke is our in office triaging specialist you interact with when visiting or calling the GAP office. She is our office coordinator hanldes marketing and communications including social media. Her duties include overall office and event coordination.
