The University of Michigan Medical School’s postdoctoral program consists of scholars from all of the basic science and clinical departments. Individual U-M Med School faculty and faculty laboratories usually recruit and appoint postdoctoral fellows directly. The Office of Postdoctoral Studies serves as a home base for postdocs, providing on-going career development opportunities and a sense of community.
The University of Michigan Postdoctoral Association represents postdoctoral fellows across campus. The UMPDA bridges the training gap between the laboratory and the changing culture of biomedical science, augments the professional development provided by faculty mentors and is a forum to identify and address specific needs.
