The University of Michigan Faculty Group Practice (FGP) was established in 1996 to combine the practice plans of 15 U-M clinical departments into a single integrated, multi-specialty U-M physician group. Today, the FGP includes more than 1,800 physician members in 20 clinical departments.

The FGP supports the U-M Medical School's mission — to educate students, physicians and biomedical scholars and to provide a spectrum of comprehensive knowledge, research, patient care and service of the highest quality to the people of the state of Michigan and beyond — by:

  • Treating patients who make more than 2 million annual visits to our hospitals, health centers and clinics throughout southeastern Michigan
  • Educating more than 1,124 resident physicians and 700 medical students
  • Conducting leading-edge basic science and clinical research
