Due to the competitiveness of the program and limited availability, we offer rotation spots only to those interested in pursuing anesthesiology as a specialty on a tiered, first-come, first-served basis. These rotations are not audition rotations and do not guarantee resident candidacy for those who come to rotate with us.
All applicants must submit a USMLE Step 1 score. Accepting a rotation offer in the Anesthesiology program as a visiting student does not guarantee a residency interview.
Below is a general timeline for the application process:
- Applications Open: First week of February — please refer to AAMC VSLO for the official date specific to the year you are applying
- Application Review: February-May
- First Round Offers: March-April
- Second Round Offers: May-June
- Applications Close: End of May
- All offers will be sent and finalized by the end of June.
Details concerning eligibility requirements and the application process may be found on the U-M Medical School Visiting Students webpage. Under no circumstances should an interested student make independent arrangements with a faculty member for an elective prior to submitting an application to the Office of Student Programs for processing.
