Hometown: Dearborn, Michigan

Undergraduate School: University of Michigan

Why I chose U-M Anesthesiology: The versatility and diversity of the training. A large network of successful alumni all over the country. Family-friendly culture.

Hobbies: Running, swimming, hiking
Favorite Ann Arbor restaurant: Too many to choose from: Palio for special dates, Joe’s Pizza for get-togethers with friends (this is a branch of the NYC Joe’s Pizza that was featured in the Spider-Man movie)
Favorite thing about life in Ann Arbor: Love to go on nature walks with my wife and daughter. There are plenty of trails, playgrounds, and parks to explore. My favorite spot is the botanical garden.

Dominick Alton, DO

Hometown: Farmington Hills, Michigan

Undergraduate School: University of Detroit Mercy
Medical School: Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine

Why I chose U-M Anesthesiology: I chose the University of Michigan because I wanted to be at a program where I could learn how to safely anesthetize the sickest patients. With our heavy exposure to critical care medicine, our high volume of patients requiring transplant or mechanical circulatory support, and our early exposure to the subspecialties of anesthesia (i.e. cardiac, peds and OB during CA-1 year), it made for the best fit.

Hobbies: Traveling with my spouse, playing basketball, playing with my dog, and trying new pizza
Favorite Ann Arbor restaurant: As a pizza lover, I have recognized that Joe's Pizza has become the spotlight of this city and it is really good, but I really enjoy NeoPapalis for their take on Neapolitan-style pizza.
Favorite thing about life in Ann Arbor: The Matthaei Botanical Gardens

Tyler Beute, MD

Why I chose U-M Anesthesiology: I chose the University of Michigan because of its great reputation, exposure to a large variety of cases, and their dedication to wellness — with a good work/life balance. In addition, the people (both the anesthesiology and surgery departments) were all so down-to-earth and approachable. I have never been disappointed with my decision!

Hobbies: Hunting — archery mostly (whitetail and elk), boating (skiing/surfing), running, and spending as much time with my wife and two boys as possible.
Favorite Ann Arbor restaurant: NeoPapalis
Favorite thing about life in Ann Arbor: Ann Arbor has so much to do, including multiple, well-maintained public parks and pools. I also appreciate that it's a smaller city that is so much more accessible than most. Lastly, we love the church that we attend in downtown Ann Arbor!

Why I chose U-M Anesthesiology: After growing up in Florida I wanted to see a different part of the country for residency. Favorite thing about life in Ann Arbor: Ann Arbor has a small town feel, but it provides a great downtown experience with a number of restaurants and places to hangout. But my favorite has to be tubing down the Huron River with a bunch of friends when the weather is nice!
