    Research Overview

    • Characterize trauma exposure and sequelae among chronic pain patients, and their association with unique pain characteristics.
    • Determine mediators and moderators of the association between trauma and pain phenotype, including centralized pain. This includes exploring potential neurobiological, physiological, and socioemotional mechanisms underlying this association.
    • Determine factors that impede or promote positive treatment outcomes among individuals with a history of trauma. This includes understanding implementation of treatment options among trauma victims, whether response to treatment is impacted by history of abuse and trauma sequelae, and how trauma history affects relationships with providers and treatment recommendations.
