In an impressive example of collaboration within the Biological Chemistry Department, members of the Cho lab, the Dou lab, the Cianfrocco lab, and the Zhang lab report the single-particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) structure of the human MLL1 core complex bound to the nucleosome. Their study sheds light on how the MLL1 complex engages chromatin and how chromatin binding promotes the tri-methylation activity of MLL1.
