Chris Ohmer has received a Graduate Student Research Award from the Department of Energy

Chris Ohmer, a Ph.D. student in the Program in Chemical Biology who is mentored by Dr. Stephen Ragsdale, has been selected to receive an award from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR). The SCGSR program provides supplemental awards to outstanding graduate students to pursue part of their graduate thesis research at a DOE laboratory in areas that address scientific challenges central to the Office of Science mission. Chris will conduct his proposed research project, "Structural Characterization of the Ni(I)-active Methyl-Coenzyme M Reductase: Nature's Catalyst for Methane Synthesis, Activation, and Oxidation," at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Congratulations Chris!
