The Department of Biological Chemistry at the University of Michigan Medical School educates and trains undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate and medical students in modern biochemistry.  Our research areas include structural enzymology, protein processing and folding, regulation of gene expression and biochemical signaling. Our preview visit gives prospective students an opportunity to:

  • Learn about our application process and receive feedback on individual applications
  • Network with current Biochemistry Graduate Students

Announcing The Biotech Career Exploration Program

Biotech Career Exploration is a structured program to educate, train, and provide career exposure to many aspects of biotechnology outside of the traditional academic tenure-track faculty position.

Throughout the program, trainees will engage in a series of workshops, seminars, and panel discussions to explore career options and prepare for an experiential learning opportunity with an on-campus unit, small business startup, large corporation, non-profit organization, governmental agency, law firm, or any additional non-academic entity.

Deadline to submit an application is February 19, 2018. Space is limited !!!

Cathy L. Drennan, Ph.D. Awarded

Bicentennial Alumni Award

Structural biologist and chemist Cathy Drennan, Ph.D. is acclaimed for her pioneering scientific contributions, including determining the structure of an enzyme involved in DNA synthesis, and for her teaching innovations.  For her many significant contributions to science and pedagogy, the University of Michigan presents to Cathy L. Drennan its Bicentennial Alumni Award.
