Dr. Bernadette Zwaans Presents Career Development Seminar

Bernadette Zwaans, PhDResearch Associate, Beaumont Health will present a talk "A twist to the traditional academic career path" for the Career Pathways Outside the Realm of Traditional Academic Jobs Seminar Series.

Dr. Zwaans received her Masters in Biological Health Sciences from University of Maastricht in the Netherlands. She then went on to receiver her doctorate in Molecular and Cellular Pathology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. With over twelve years of experience at four different research institutions, Dr. Zwaans has contributed to our understanding of tumor suppressors and vasculature in cancer.
 
Based on personal experiences, she is seeking to focus her research on improving medical care of cancer survivors. She has published in top journals including Cell, Urology, and Cancer Cell. She was recently awarded a prestigious K01 federal award through the NIDDK to study bladder health in cancer survivors.
