Discussion on Disparities, Bias and Equity in Health

6:30 PM

For questions, contact Laura Boudette at lauraabo@umich.edu or 734-272-8753.

Dear colleagues,

I am honored to make opening remarks for the panel presentation, which will include University of Michigan Medical School faculty members John Z. Ayanian, M.D., director of the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation and the Alice Hamilton Distinguished University Professor of Medicine and Healthcare Policy; and David J. Brown, M.D., associate vice president and associate dean for health equity and inclusion and associate professor of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery.

Drs. Ayanian and Brown will join Jehan (Gigi) El-Bayoumi, M.D., founding director of the Rodham Institute and professor of medicine in the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, to discuss disparities and social determinants that affect health and access to care in communities across the country. They also will address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, racism and bias in health care, and what we can do to affect positive change for underserved and minority communities. A U-M medical student will serve as moderator.

I encourage you to send this information to any colleagues who may be interested in health disparities and equity in health care.

I hope you can join us on Jan. 28

Sincerely,

Brian J. Zink, M.D.
