Biography

Dr. Katie Wagner is an integrated cardiothoracic surgery resident at the University of Michigan. Originally from Grosse Pointe, MI Katie obtained a B.S. Biomedical Engineering with a Cell and Tissue Engineering concentration from The Johns Hopkins University. Following her undergraduate studies, she preformed bench top research for AstraZeneca prior to attending medical school at The University of Michigan. During medical school, she was actively involved in research projects with the Department of Surgery and was a leader of multiple student groups. She also participated in device development and received “Best Medical Device” through the Early Tech Development competition and was awarded funding through the Surgical Innovation Development Accelerator Course.  Katie was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, received the Clinical Skills Excellence Award, received the Charles and Phyllis Lowe merit scholarship for being a top graduate in her medical school class, and graduated with Academic Distinction.

Areas of Interest

Katie’s clinical interests include adult cardiac surgery and outcomes research. She plans to pursue a career in academic cardiac surgery.
