Oliver Varban, MD, Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery, will facilitate a talk: “Improving Surgical Skills Using Video-Based Assessments.”

In this session, Dr. Varban will discuss current trends in surgical skills assessment, and offer examples of practical solutions to current challenges posed in surgical skills assessment.

To promote collaboration and best practices in simulation-based education and research, the UMCSC hosts a monthly Brown Bag Series. The series is intended to allow all University faculty, staff, and learners the opportunity to learn and share best practices in simulation-based education and assessment. The series offers something for everyone, with a broad range of topics relating to simulation-based education in medicine.  Presentations will range from projects considered “in-development” from junior educators/researchers to presentations about successfully implemented curricula from the CSC Core faculty. Each session offers attendees the opportunity to gain insights and contribute to a dynamic discussion in a non-intimidating, friendly setting.

UMCSC Brown Bag Series is scheduled from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. monthly on select days.

For any inquiries/comments, or you would like to present at the CSC BB Series, please contact Deb Rooney, Director of Education and Research, Clinical Simulation Center ([email protected]).
