Jonathan Williams

I am interested in the proteins that are involved in moving chromosomes during meiosis. Remarkably, this occurs by two proteins, SUN1 and KASH5, that form a bridge across the nuclear envelope, linking chromosomes in the nucleus to motor proteins in the cytoplasm. Understanding how this protein bridge functions (known as the LINC complex) is the subject of my research project.
