We are committed to increasing diversity in the lab and to ensuring that our campus is a place where differences are welcomed and respected. Our lab truly believes that being inclusive and diverse will only make us stronger. Harassment and discrimination have no place in our lab.

Our lab studies normal and defective hematopoiesis with particular emphasis on erythropoiesis, using human samples as well as murine models of human red blood cell disorders. We also study Sickle Cell Disease; our goal is to improve our understanding of globin switching and to identify novel therapies for the disease. Additionally, our lab studies the transport of proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus, and how defects in this pathway result in human disease. Our lab employs a wide variety of scientific techniques, including mouse genetics, genome-wide CRISPR screens, bone marrow transplantation experiments, flow cytometry, and various cell biology techniques.
