Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections for Hair Rejuvenation

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections are a non-surgical treatment often used in conjunction with other hair loss treatments to stimulate hair growth and rejuvenation. PRP injections are usually performed as a series of monthly treatments followed by less frequent maintenance treatment sessions. PRP injections generally cause no social downtime and gradually work over a period of months.

What is PRP?

Platelets are a natural part of blood involved in clotting. They are known to release growth factors that stimulate healing and have been shown to increase hair thickness and density. PRP is made from a small amount of the patient’s own blood, which is drawn into a special type of tube and then spun in a device called a centrifuge to separate the platelets from other blood components. The concentrated platelets along with the plasma in which they are found are then injected using a very small, fine needle into the scalp.
