Chanelle Ward is a Community Outreach Coordinator with the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center (CPFRC) Health Equity Core. Born and raised in Detroit, Chanelle became acquainted early on with the disparities that existed in majority Black/African American communities. After graduating from Tennessee State University, Chanelle became a high school teacher in Detroit where she deepened her understanding of the impact of health inequity on life quality. She became passionate about educating not only her students, but the community at large about health and wellness. Before joining the CPFRC Health Equity Core, Chanelle worked as a community health worker to address social determinants of health–especially housing stability–in aging and underresourced communities. She creates connections between residents and vital resources to improve their health and life quality in the long term.
