CSC Receives Two Reaccreditations

Both accreditations, one from American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the other from the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ Simulation Education Network (ASA-SEN), were announced December 2019.

The American College of Surgeons Accredited Education Institute (AEI) awarded the CSC reaccreditation for five years as a Comprehensive Education Institute.  The CSC was also re-endorsed by the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ (ASE) Simulation Education Network (SEN) for the ongoing promotion of simulation-based education in anesthesiology.

The ACS accreditation includes rigorous external evaluation and reviews the advancements being made in the use of simulation for improved individual and team performance and patient outcomes at University of Michigan Health System. James Cooke, MD, CSC Executive Director, praised the work of the CSC team to achieve recertification, "Many thanks to all of you who contributed to the effort, especially Niles Mayrand, Andrea Mitz and Dr. Deborah Rooney for their efforts in preparing the application, and planning and executing a very successful site visit."
