Rooney invited to join ACS Academy of Master Surgeon Educators

CSC leader Deborah Rooney recognized for her contributions as a surgeon educator

Deborah M. Rooney, PhD, Director, 3D & Innovations Lab and Education and Research, will be recognized for her significant contributions as a surgeon educator via simulation with her induction into the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Academy of Master Surgeon Educators on October 15, 2021. 

As a member of the Academy of Master Surgeon Educators she will work to foster innovation and collaboration while steering advances and supporting faculty development in the field as well as identify trends in surgical education and training and raising the visibility of the field's role in the future of healthcare.

"I am honored to be recognized by American College of Surgeons and humbled to be inducted into the ACS Academy of Master Educators with this cohort and those before me," says Rooney. "I see this as an opportunity to engage the greater education community and drive interdisciplinary collaborations to improve surgical education and patient care."

Statement of purpose from the academy website:  The aim of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Academy of Master Surgeon Educators is to recognize and assemble a cadre of renowned master surgeon educators who will work closely with the ACS Division of Education, to advance the science and practice of avant-garde surgical education and training.
