The Bioinformatics Black Student Union (BBSU; [email protected]) has been established and is a student-organized group dedicated to providing resources, networks, and a forum for Black students in DCMB. Students who have a general interest to learn more about bioinformatics tools and careers are also encouraged to take part.
The current student organizers of BBSU are Gabrielle Dotson, Maribel Okiye, and Michael Pitter. We each come from different corners of the Michigan research community and are excited to engage with other students of color along the topics of bioinformatics and computational medicine!
While this is an academic and professional group, we will have a number of social and casual events as well. If you are interested please fill out this form in preparation for our first general body meeting on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 5:00 PM.
Feel free to join our Slack group and introduce yourself. We are still in the process of planning the upcoming events and we welcome any suggestions from you all!
