Chen Li, Maria Virgilio, Kathleen Collins and Josh Welch Create Mathematical Model Towards Effective Stem Cell Therapies

The field of regenerative medicine is still in its early stages although scientists have been working on new stem cell treatments for decades. A better understanding of how a stem cell transforms into its final form is critical.

In a manuscript published in Nature Biotechnology on October 13, their study revealed that a mathematical model that can be used in stem cell therapy will be more effective in treatments. This model will allow scientists to finally figure out the order of genetic operations inside developing cells.
