I’m working on a project to improve the current scoring system in RegulomeDB, a computational tool to prioritize SNPs in non-coding regions of human genome. We plan to apply machine learning methods to predict SNPs disrupting transcription factor binding, and extend our model to predict the effects of structural variations in the future. We will build this prediction model using all the data types currently included in RegulomeDB such as DNase I Hypersensitive sites and TF motifs, as well as newly-generated data such as chromatin 3D conformations. We hope our prediction tool can help researchers in identifying disease causative variants within DNA regulatory regions.
