In February, Marie Lyndsey, M.D. (Michigan Medicine Dermatology Resident) was one of 30 Career Day presenters at Ann Arbor Public School’s Clague Middle School. At this annual event, various presenters share information about their jobs, skills, and career paths with seventh and eighth grade students. Representing careers in the Health Sciences, Dr. Lyndsey described her education, training and career pathway to become a physician and dermatology resident.
“Career Day at Clague is one way in which counselors expose students to a variety of occupations and showcase the connections between learning and success in the workplace,” explained Clague Middle School Counselor Alison Muehlman. “On Career Day, students learned from adults working within six career pathways set forth by the Michigan Department of Education. We had a strong turn out from adults within our community, with 30 Career Day speakers engaging seventh and eighth grade students in real-life lessons from their fields. We all had a blast.”
Many thanks to Dr. Lyndsey for volunteering her time to inform and guide students in their future choice of career pathway.
