Dr. Johann Gudjonsson Named AAAS Fellow

Dr. Johann E. Gudjonsson has been elected as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Johann E. Gudjonsson, MD, PhD, Arthur C. Curtis Professor of Skin Immunology and Professor of Dermatology, has been elected as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Dr. Gudjonsson was elected to this high honor for pioneering the use of high throughput biology to further our understanding of the genetics and pathophysiology of major inflammatory and immune skin diseases.

Dr. Gudjonsson was one of 17 scholars from the University of Michigan and among the 506 scientists, engineers and innovators recognized this year by the AAAS. Selection as an AAAS fellow is among the most distinct honors within the scientific community.

Election as an AAAS Fellow is a lifetime honor, with Fellows expected to meet the commonly held standards of professional ethics and scientific integrity. Fellows have included Thomas Edison, W.E.B DuBois, Maria Mitchell, Steven Chu, Ellen Ochoa and Irwin M. Jacobs.
