CDI Informatics and Clinical Research Innovation

The goal of the Elizabeth Weiser Caswell Diabetes Institute is to provide transformative diabetes care integrated with clinical research and coordinating informatics infrastructure to support the clinical care and research missions of the University of Michigan. In partnership with the newly established Childhood Obesity Research Core (CORC) of the Michigan Nutrition Obesity Research Center funded by NIDDK, CDI Informatics and Clinical Research Innovation provides the following services:
  • Access to the U-M Pediatrics and Elizabeth Weiser Caswell Diabetes Institute (CDI) Data Repository with local electronic health record data of patients seen at Michigan Medicine since 2012 
  • University of Michigan researchers may request de-identified or aggregate/summary-level data, limited/coded datasets, or full-PHI (identifiable) datasets for secondary analyses
  • Design and development of customized provider- and patient-facing health IT tools such as Epic-integrated Smart-Sets and flowsheets
  • Creation of visual dashboards to better understand and interpret data
  • Consultation on study design, data availability, statistical methods, and IRB submissions/requirements
