Deadline Extended to March 1, 2022

New NIDDK COVID-19 - Metabolism Pilot Grants

The NIDDK has announced two new requests for applications (RFAs) to foster collaboration between investigators from two or more different Diabetes Research Centers (DRC) or Centers for Diabetes Translational Research (CDTR).
For the first round of these RFAs, applications must be relevant to aspects of COVID-19 disease as it relates to diabetes, obesity or metabolism.
In future years, the scope of these applications may be broadened to all aspects of metabolic diseases or be focused on different emphasis areas.
Two funding mechanisms are available:
  • Pilot and Feasibility Grants (P&F): These grants support collaborative efforts between investigators at two or more DRCs or CDTRs. The budget for a P&F grant is up to $100,000.
  • Mini-grants: These grants support the use of biomedical core services at DRCs or CDTRs at a different institution and/or by investigators at different DRC or CDTRs initiating a new collaboration. The budget for a Mini-grant is up to $10,000.
Applications can be for basic research, clinical research as well as for community-based studies.
Investigators at all faculty levels are eligible to apply, but must be members of a DRC or CDTR
Collaborations must involve DRC and/or CDTR members at different institutions.
The application deadline is March 1, 2022 with an anticipated start date in April 2022
F&A costs will not be covered through these grants
These two new pilot funding mechanisms will be administered through the Albert Einstein-Mount Sinai DRC.
