Patient Care: Every year, we treat more than 210,000  patients in our University Hospital, C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, Hurley Medical Center, and Ann Arbor VA Emergency Departments. We are the first institution nationally to host the Emergency Critical Care Center, an integral part of patient care, education, and research.

Research: The U-M Department of Emergency Medicine is ranked #1 in National Institutes of Health funding and continues to receive significant funding from other federal agencies, foundations, industry, and philanthropy.  Notable research programs include: The U-M Injury Prevention Center, The Max Harry Weil Institute for Critical Care Research and Innovation, Strategies to Innovate Emergency Care Clinical Trials Network (SIREN) (Clinical Coordinating Center),  Michigan Emergency Department Improvement Collaborative (MEDIC), Michigan Resuscitation Innovation and Science Enterprise (M-RISE), NIH StrokeNet, Prevention and Early Treatment of Acute Lung Injury (PETAL) Network,  Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) and the newly formed first global emergency research and education network; Emergency Medicine Education and Research by Global Experts (EMERGE network).

Education: We conduct our four-year emergency medicine residency in partnership with St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor and Hurley Medical Center, Flint. We emphasize clinical excellence and premier preparation for careers in academic medicine. Our pediatric emergency medicine division and fellowship is based in the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. Emergency Medicine is a required clinical clerkship at the University of Michigan Medical School.

Compensation/Benefits: We offer competitive salaries and an excellent fringe benefit package. Academic rank based on credentials.

Requirements: Residency training and/or board certification in Emergency Medicine.

Preferred: Fellowship training in the areas listed above.
