Dr. Rob Huang Appointed Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director

Dr. Neumar is delighted officially to announce the appointment of Dr. Robert Huang as the next Program Director for the University of Michigan Emergency Medicine Residency. 

Dr. Huang has been an integral member of the residency leadership team since 2015 and in recognition of his contributions and leadership of the residency didactics curriculum was promoted to Associate Program Director in 2019.   Dr. Huang graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School, followed by Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Nebraska where he also served as Chief Resident.   He completed his Ultrasound fellowship at Orlando Regional Medical Center and has contributed his talents to the EM Ultrasound fellowship and resident instruction. 

Dr. Huang is the M-Home Director of Salk House for UMMS.  His scholarly interests include clinical ultrasound including critical care applications, ultrasound education, and social media in medicine.

Dr. Huang will officially assume the position of program director effective April 1, 2020.

He would like to also recognize and thank Dr. Laura Hopson for her outstanding leadership of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program over the past 9 years. Under her direction the program has grown to 16 residents per year and developed a reputation as one of the top EM training programs in the country.  Please join me in thanking her for her dedication and service.  We will continue to benefit from Dr. Hopson’s leadership as the Associate Chair for Education in the Department of Emergency Medicine.
