Biography

Vinitha Jacob is an Assistant Professor and physician-scientist in the Department of Emergency Medicine. She was a semifinalist in the national Intel Science Talent Search and obtained her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University. She then received her MD and PhD degrees from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she was supported by a competitive individual NIH pre-doctoral fellowship. She completed her residency in emergency medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital, where she won the resident research award. She currently runs an NIH funded basic research program which focuses on the role of cholesterol metabolism in sepsis using pre-clinical models.
