Biography
Fred Kron, MD, is the President and Founder of Medical Cyberworlds, Inc. (MCI) which uses its proprietary, cutting-edge technology to train people, assess skills, and certify competency in high-stakes communication. Dr. Kron brings a singular background to communication research. He is a practicing, Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician whose career includes training in Radiology, Internal Medicine, Flight Medicine, and Family Medicine, plus scholarly work in Geriatrics, Physician-Patient Communications, and New Media Technology in Medicine.
Dr. Kron is also a successful multimedia writer whose work has been produced in live-action and animated television. He also contributed to the design for several award-winning computer games. He has established a reputation as a thought leader on the use of new media technology in medicine, and has presented on this subject by invitation to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), the Stanford SUMMIT Conference, and others. He is also the author of several published articles about media in medicine. Dr. Kron and Dr. Fetters served as co-PIs on a successful Phase I SBIR grant, "Modeling Professional Attitudes and Teaching Humanistic Communication in VR (MPathic-VR)" which enabled the design and production of MCI's prototype virtual human application.
