Hi! My name is Lauren Schrock and I'm originally from Ada, MI (just outside of Grand Rapids). I'm one of four kids, and grew up playing sports, doing musicals and raising sheep. I stayed in Grand Rapids for undergrad and attend Aquinas College, where earned my B.S. and ran track. I went to Wayne State for medical school and loved my time working and living in the Detroit area. While I applied broadly for residency, I had a very strong interest in U-M ever since starting medical school and I'm thrilled to be training at a fantastic program in such an awesome city. As a plus, I get to work with my husband, who is currently a 3rd year resident in the family medicine program--great perk!
When applying for residency, I was looking for a program that would prepare me to practice competently regardless of where I end up practicing. I'm interested in rural as well as international medicine, and was looking for a program that would provide well-rounded training with an emphasis on OB and outpatient procedures. I'm confident that U of M will prepare me well for wherever I practice medicine throughout the rest of my life--additionally, I feel incredibly fortunate to be training with and learning from such quality residents and faculty.
In my free time I love to bake! While I enjoy baking almost anything, I have a huge sweet tooth and tend to make lots of desserts. I also enjoy singing and playing piano, which are two of my biggest stress-relievers. My husband and I both enjoy hiking whenever we get the chance, but if time doesn't permit we love just walking around Ann Arbor, finding free music and new restaurants to try!
