Biography
My name is Lauren Groskaufmanis and I grew up in northern Virginia. I went to the University of Virginia for undergrad, where I studied neuroscience and worked as an EMT. Through my experiences as an EMT, I realized a career in medicine would allow me to combine my love of science with a desire to serve my community - and I even learned to drive an ambulance in the process! I headed to Duke University for medical school, where I was part of the Primary Care Leadership Track, and took an extra year to complete my MPH degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. As a medical student, I fell in love with family medicine, which offered the opportunity to form long-term partnerships with patients and provide full-spectrum care to varied and diverse patient populations. I was thrilled to match into the Family Medicine Residency at the University of Michigan, with it’s robust full-spectrum training in both academic and community settings. In addition to the excellent clinical training, I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to work with the amazing research faculty in the department! My interests in medicine include women’s health, wilderness medicine, pediatrics, and public health. I also have an interest in health policy, and strive to advocate for and work towards the development of a health system that is more efficient, effective, equitable, and accessible. Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time outdoors - hiking, camping, kayaking and skiing.
