In the U.S. News & World Report rankings released this month, the Department ranked seventh in the Family Medicine Medical Specialty rankings of Best Graduate Schools 2016.
The Department remains in the top ten, as it has for more than ten years.
"It is very gratifying to see that our colleagues across the country recognize the incredible work that is done in the Department in all our missions as evidenced by our high ranking," noted Philip Zazove, M.D., the George A. Dean, M.D. Chair of Family Medicine. "Most importantly, in my opinion, our efforts to be the best at what we do eventually benefits our patients and their families, who receive better health care. That, after all, is why we are here in the first place."
The University of Michigan ranked well overall ranking in tenth place nationally among research schools and fifth place among primary care schools.
