Learning to Lead: Co-Chief Resident Blogs at NEJM

In a blog entitled “Insights on Residency Training,” Gregory D. Shumer, M.D., co-chief resident, shares his thoughts on becoming a leader.

Dr. Shumer will participate in the New England Journal of Medicine’s special panel of chief residents from other family, hospital and internal medicine residency programs around the country. The panel will blog throughout the year and will examine a range of clinical issues from the resident’s point of view.

Dr. Shumer posted his first blog post this month where he touches on his first forays into residency leadership from learning how to best lead a group of leaders – or herding cats, as one speaker presented it – at the national family medicine Chief Resident Leadership Development Program to welcoming U-M’s newest family medicine interns.
