July 16 MHWFAC webinar addressed daycare and school concerns

The third webinar in the MHWFAC “Conversations with a Food Allergy Counselor” series provided tips and skill-building aimed at preparing individuals with food allergy – and their parents, peers and educators – for the classroom environment.

While back-to-school planning still is in COVID-related flux for most families, it’s not too soon to start anticipating various scenarios and formulating a plan for fall.  

Licensed clinical social worker Kim Menzel, , LMSW, ACSW, who works with patients at the Michigan Medicine food allergy clinic, discussed “Safe transition to dayscare, school and beyond” on July 16 via Zoom as part of the MHWFAC's "Conversatons with a Food Allergy Counselor" webinar series.

Kim was joined by Nancy Polmear-Swendris, MEd, BSN, RN, NCSN, a food allergy nurse educator with 45 years experience working with patients in both the clinic and public school settings.
