Feb 18 webinar: Safe dining out with tips from the pros

The MHWFAC’s February edition of “Coping and Conversations with Kim”  featured industry experts with advice for allergy-safe dine-in and carry-out food service.

U-M’s food allergy social worker, Kim Menzel, LMSW, ACSW, works with many patients and their caregivers who want to enjoy meals away from home but aren’t sure how to communicate with servers, cooks and managers to ensure a safe experience.

Our special guests on February 18 included two experts from the famed Zingerman’s brands in Ann Arbor:  Chef Ji Hye Kim of restaurant Miss Kim and Laura Wonch, kitchen manager of the famed Zingerman’s deli.  Each has extensive experience in serving guests with food restrictions, and gave us a glimpse of their behind-the-scenes food prep practices as well at tips for making your needs understood.
