I am interested in understanding the mechanisms of neurodegeneration and developing treatments for diabetic neuropathy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and Alzheimer’s disease. In one of our current major international endeavors, I am interested evaluating metabolic factors associated with diabetic neuropathy through various worldwide collaborations to identify features that are common and distinct among these diverse populations to provide insight into the mechanisms underlying diabetic neuropathy and potential therapeutic targets.
