Global Health and Human Rights, with Dr. Joia Mukherjee

Dr. Mukherjee is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Associate Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and the Chief Medical Officer of Partners in Health. Her work focuses on the provision of health as a human right, and on the design, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive health care in resource-poor settings. For the past two decades, Dr. Mukherjee has worked with Partners in Health to reduce global health disparities and to strengthen health systems in under-resourced nations and world regions, including Haiti, Rwanda, Malawi, Lesotho, Peru, Mexico, Russia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. She has also served as an expert consultant for the World Health Organization and Ministries of Health on programs and clinics on HIV, TB, health system strengthening, and health workforce development. Dr. Mukherjhee also serves on the board of directors and as an advisor for several grassroots health care and human rights organizations throughout the developing world.
