Apply to be a peer reviewer for Pre-Publication Support Service (PREPSS). Founded by UM School of Public Health Assistant Clinical Professor of Epidemiology, PREPSS enlists peer reviewers who work with authors to improve their manuscripts to be competitive for publication in peer-reviewed academic journals. This role is similar to an academic journal peer reviewer.
As a peer reviewer, you'll receive training on how to be an effective peer reviewer for manuscripts targeted for scientific journals. Afterward, you will be eligible to join the PREPSS peer review team.
Qualifications to participate in peer-reviewer training:
- You must be a PhD candidate or post-doc in a health-related field or a medical resident with a research focus.
- You must have at least one first-authored publication.
- You must agree to review at least two scientific manuscripts per year for PREPSS after you complete the workshop.
Participation is required for the following training activities:
- Orientation via Zoom (live or asynchronously): May 14th, 10:00am-11:30am EST.
- Provide and submit comments on a practice manuscript by May 26, 5pm EST.
- Attend one of the following sessions live: May 28th, 9:00am-1:00pm EST; or June 2nd, 3:00pm-7:00pm EST.
