The focal area of work is launching and creating sustainability of The International Center for Advanced Research and Training (ICART) in Panzi, Bukavu, in the South-Kivu Province of the DR Congo. The research center works closely with Dr. Denis Mukwege, UM's 2010 Raoul Wallenberg medalist, in seeking the kind of solutions that come from research to reduce the suffering, particularly of women and children, from the decades of wars.
