I completed a BS in Kinesiology at UM and then completed a PhD in Integrated Physiology and Pharmacology from Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. My graduate research was focused on understanding how mitochondrial function in blood cells was affected by aging and exercise interventions in overweight/obese older adults. After my PhD, I moved back to Michigan to begin postdoctoral research.

Research Interests
My current research focuses on uncovering mechanisms of age-enhanced cardiovascular diseases. Specifically, I am examining mechanisms of how aging alters vascular mitochondrial function, mitophagy, and inflammation to accelerate progression of atherosclerosis.
