Jazib Uddin, MSc

Immunology Program Graduate Student Candidate

Jazib graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S in Biochemistry and went on to get his MS in Pharmacology from the University of Cincinnati. Jazib joined the Graduate Program in Immunology in the Fall of 2018, and he joined the lab of Dr. Simon Hogan.

Research Interests

Jazib’s research focuses on the paired immunoglobulin-like receptor (PIRB); an inhibitory receptor which upon activation recruits and activates intracellular phosphatases to inhibit activating kinase signaling pathways. Recent data has identified a previously unappreciated pro-inflammatory role for PIRB in the regulation of CD4+ T-cell-dependent colitis. Jazib is interested in how PIRB regulates CD4+ Th17 pathogenic immune responses in the onset or exacerbation of intestinal inflammation.
