Welcome to the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine. Directed by David J. Pinsky, MD, the division is comprised of more than 120 faculty and 34 fellows dedicated to treating, preventing, and understanding rare and complex heart conditions.
We partner with the Frankel Cardiovascular Center - one of the largest facilities on Michigan Medicine's campus. Our physicians collaborate with faculty members from many disciplines. Each year, they:
- care for more than 6,000 hospital inpatients and 35,000 outpatients at 10 clinic locations across Michigan.
- complete more than 4,800 electrophysiological studies and procedures.
- perform more than 800 open-heart operations on adults.
We have been at the forefront of cardiology research since 1896. Since then, great discoveries in basic, translational, and clinical research have been made behind our walls, improving the lives of those living with heart disease. In addition, we have research centers and programs such as:
Education and Training
Our highly sought after ACGME-accredited fellowship programs provide rigorous clinical training and investigative skills necessary to develop successful careers in cardiovascular medicine. In addition, our faculty provide numerous continuing medical educational opportunities to advance the knowledge of health care professionals in the communities we serve.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Well-Being
The Department of Internal Medicine (DOIM) Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is committed to creating and cultivating a diverse and inclusive community that provides our faculty, learners, and staff with the opportunities and support they need to thrive.
