Target Audience

This course will be particularly relevant to internists, family physicians, cardiologists, and other health care providers who manage patients with common cardiac conditions.

Course Objectives

Techniques for cardiac imaging have expanded rapidly, complicating the determination of imaging modality for specific patients. The appropriate selection and use of imaging tests is an increasing concern. This course will present and discuss the appropriate roles of recently developed options for cardiac imaging to assist internists, primary care providers, and cardiologists in evaluating and managing patients with common cardiovascular conditions.

Upon completing this course, the participant will be able to apply in their practice an understanding of recent advances in cardiac imaging to:

  • determine which imaging procedures are likely to provide the most clinical utility in specific cases
  • select current non-invasive approaches to patients with chest pain and suspected coronary artery disease
  • determine optimal imaging strategies in individuals with cardiovascular disease
  • implement appropriate use of imaging in patients with cardiovascular disease
