Target Audience

This course is directed to family and general practitioners, gastroenterologists, internists, nurses and other primary care providers including nurse practitioners and physician assistants interested in expanding their knowledge of clinical Hepatology.

Course Objectives

New information regarding the management of GI bleeding, Helicobacter pylori treatment, diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease, viral hepatitis, NAFLD, cirrhosis and liver cancer will be presented. In addition case based discussion on the current approach to using biologics in IBD, DAA for hepatitis C, management of NAFLD, quality care in cirrhosis and screening and treatment of liver cancer will be presented.

Following this course, the participants will understand and be able to implement:

  • Latest developments in the management of GI bleeding and IBD.
  • Latest evidence-based management of viral hepatitis.
  • Approach to the diagnosis and management of NAFLD and NASH.
  • How to diagnose and manage complications of cirrhosis.
  • Latest evidence-based strategies for liver cancer screening and management.

Registration fees include breakfast and educational materials. You are urged to register as soon as you are certain of attending as we cannot guarantee educational materials for participants who are not preregistered by March 9, 2018. Checks (in US currency) must be payable to the University of Michigan. American Express, Mastercard, Visa and Discover are also accepted. Payment is due at time of registration.

Cancellation Policy

An administrative fee of $50 will be deducted from your registration payment. Refund requests must be received in writing, no later than Friday, March 9, 2018. No refunds will be made thereafter.

Accreditation & Credit Designation

The University of Michigan Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Michigan Medical School designates this live activity for a maximum of 4 AMA PRA Category I credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

An application has been submitted to the American Osteopathic Association for credits.  Other credits by specialty may apply.

Nurses: The Michigan State Board of Nursing recognizes the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) as an approved provider of continuing medical education for nurses. CME credits awarded at this program may be applied to the 25 hour relicensing requirements, per Rule 2.a., Michigan State Board of Nursing.

Transplant Certification: Category I Continuing Education Points for Transplant Certification (CEPTCs) have been applied for through the American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC).

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 4 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to the ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
