STAT Madness Tournament of Science

It is time to vote for the 2nd Annual STAT Madness virtual tournament of science, with 64 scientific discoveries from 2017 competing for the crowd's favorite for best innovation in biomedical science in 2017. Michigan Medicine has a team competing that includes Department of Internal Medicine faculty members, Dr. Lona Mody and Dr. Evan Snitkin. The team was selected based on their research published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), "Network of microbial and antibiotic interactions drive colonization and infection with multidrug-resistant organisms", which was covered in Michigan Medicine Health Lab, "Study: 'Superbug' Bacteria Gang Up on Us, Fueled by Antibiotics".

Members of the public have the chance to vote for their favorite discoveries in each of 32 match-ups, and the ones with the most votes at the end of the week will go on to the bracket of 32 the following week. This will continue until the final match-up.
