Target Audience

This course will be particularly relevant to cardiologists, internists, family physicians, and other health care providers managing patients with cardiac arrhythmia's.

Course Objectives

Cardiac arrhythmia's, particularly atrial fibrillation, affect many patients and are a common clinical problem encountered in daily practice. However, as a result of recent advances in basic and clinical research and development of new technology, our understanding of the mechanisms of arrhythmia's and management strategies rapidly evolve. The goal of this course is to present and discuss recent advances in management of cardiac arrhythmia's with primary care physicians, internists and cardiologists.

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • learn more about recent advances in treatment options in patients with atrial fibrillation and how to select patients for appropriate therapy.
  • better understand the new guidelines for anticoagulation in patients with atrial fibrillation.
  • learn about management strategies of patients with PVC's and ventricular tachycardia.
  • identify patients appropriate for leadless implantable devices, ICD and cardiac re-synchronization therapy.
  • learn more about management of sleep apnea and arrhythmia's.
